Part 2: You will hear an event coordinator talking to volunteers about a short film festival.
Welcome to the orientation meeting for the Short Film Festival. I’m Leo, your coordinator. We’re thrilled to have you volunteering. Before we tour the site, let’s cover a few key details.
Regarding the films, last year’s historical dramas were a huge success. However, we’ve switched things up. Our committee received hundreds of submissions, and the main theme for this weekend is space exploration. We did consider doing animated shorts, but the science fiction entries were just too impressive to pass up.
Tonight is our big opening ceremony. Normally, we invite a popular actor to welcome the crowd. However, this time, we’ve secured a special guest. A very talented, award-winning director will be giving the opening speech. I know some of you thought a local journalist was coming, but that’s actually for tomorrow’s media panel.
Now, about tickets. If your friends want to attend, they can buy a single-day entry for thirty-five dollars. But the absolute best value is the full weekend pass, which costs fifty dollars. We strongly suggest buying it online today, as the price jumps to sixty dollars at the gate tomorrow morning.
For our volunteers, you need to know where to get your uniform. We used to keep all the shirts in the main office. That got too crowded, so this year, please go to the information booth to pick up your shirt. Just walk past the ticket desk near the entrance, and you’ll see it marked.
One important security rule: before entering any screening rooms, you must present a valid passport. A printed receipt or a digital barcode on your phone is not enough. We strictly verify age because some independent films are rated for adults only.
Okay, let’s look at the festival map. You are standing at the Main Gate at the bottom. Straight ahead, in the middle, is the Central Screen.
A lot of people will want to buy souvenirs. The merchandise stall is located at the top right corner of the field. Just walk past the food trucks on your right, and you cannot miss it. It’s a great place to pick up extra t-shirts and posters.
After the movies, visitors love to meet the filmmakers. The Q&A tent is situated immediately to the right of the Central Screen. It’s a large white marquee, very easy to spot from the middle of the field.
We also have a place for people to leave their coats. The cloakroom is super convenient. As soon as you walk through the Main Gate, it’s the very first building immediately on your right.
Since everyone takes so many pictures, phone batteries die quickly. We have set up a charging station. Walk past the Central Screen, and take the path behind it to your right. It’s right there at the end of that short right-hand path.
Finally, festivals can get overwhelming. If anyone needs a break, point them to the quiet zone. That is tucked away in the top left corner of the map, right behind the small pond. It’s totally separated from the main walking paths.
