Part 2: You will hear a coordinator giving a tour of a craft arcade.
SILAS: Hello everyone, and a huge welcome to the Lumina Craft Arcade! I’m Silas, your main coordinator, and I’m just thrilled you’re here for our morning tour. We’ve got a lot to cover, so let’s dive right in.
First off, you probably know that every month we feature a specific theme to inspire your projects. Last month we featured digital art, which was a big hit with the younger crowd. But for this month, we’re switching gears entirely. Our main theme right now is recycled materials. We actually thought about doing traditional weaving, but that’s been pushed back to next spring. So yeah, expect lots of cardboard, plastic, and metal scrap projects today.
Now, a quick note about our pricing since some of our brochures are slightly outdated. Your standard daily pass costs fifteen dollars. You might see a sign outside mentioning twelve dollars, but please note that’s only the discounted rate for children under twelve.
We’ve also made a few upgrades to the arcade recently. A lot of you wanted a proper place to display your finished pieces, so we’ve just built a brand new framing station. It’s fully equipped with everything you need. We’re also hoping to install a storage locker room soon, hopefully by next year.
Just one quick rule before we do the walkthrough. We absolutely encourage you to take photos of your work, so snap away! And we love having families here, just make sure kids aren’t left unattended while you work. But the most important thing is that you absolutely must not eat in the workshops. We’ve had crumbs and spills ruin expensive fabrics before, so please keep all snacks strictly in the cafe.
Alright, let’s get you oriented. Take a look at the map on your flyer. We are currently standing at the bottom, just inside the main Entrance.
From this Entrance Hall, if you look to your right, you’ll see a massive room taking up the entire East wing. That whole area is the Pottery Studio. We need that much space for all the spinning wheels and the large kilns.
Next, let’s look at the West side of the building, where we have two distinct rooms. If you walk over there and go to the room at the very top left, the north-west corner, that is our Glassblowing Area. It gets pretty hot in there!
Right next to it, the room just below it on the West side, the one closer to the entrance, is the Woodworking Shop. It gets incredibly loud, so we keep the thick doors closed.
Now, if you have any issues or need to register for a class, you’ll need the Arcade Manager’s Office. Walk straight into the main central area from the entrance, and it’s the room situated right in the middle, just to your left.
If you need to buy extra clay or paint, you’ll want to head to the Supply Store. It’s the most convenient room in the place. As soon as you step forward from the Entrance Hall, it’s the very first area right in front of you.
Finally, for those doing fabric work, you’ll need the Outdoor Dyeing Station. Head to the very top of the map, to the North wall. You’ll see a rectangular extension sticking out. The dyeing station is actually outside the building, situated right next to the east side of that north extension.
Alright, that’s the layout. Have a great time crafting!
