Part 1: You will hear a telephone conversation about arranging a tree pruning estimate.
STAFF: Good morning, GreenLeaf Tree Services. How can I help you?
MR HARRIS: Hi. I need an estimate for pruning some trees in my garden.
STAFF: Of course, I can arrange that. Could I have your full name?
MR HARRIS: Yes, it is Michael Harris.
STAFF: Thanks. And what is the exact address for the job?
MR HARRIS: The property is at 68 Willow Lane, Barton. Let me spell the town for you. That is B-A-R-T-O-N.
STAFF: Barton, right. Got that. Do you have a contact number?
MR HARRIS: Yes, my mobile is 07856 921443.
STAFF: Great. Could you tell me what you actually need done?
MR HARRIS: Well, the trees in the back garden have grown a lot. The branches are starting to block the sunlight, so I want them trimmed back.
STAFF: No problem. How many trees exactly, and what type are they?
MR HARRIS: There are three in total. I have two oak trees right at the back, and there is one apple tree closer to the house.
STAFF: And roughly how tall would you say they are?
MR HARRIS: The oak trees are large, probably about ten metres high. The apple tree is much smaller, but it needs a tidy up.
STAFF: Understood. Do you have any access issues for our equipment?
MR HARRIS: Yes, there is a narrow side gate into the garden, so large machinery might not fit. You will need to carry tools by hand.
STAFF: That is helpful to know. When would you like us to come out?
MR HARRIS: Next week would be ideal. I am free on Wednesday morning.
STAFF: Wednesday morning is available. And after we prune, do you want us to remove the cut branches and take everything away?
MR HARRIS: Yes please. I definitely do not have enough space to dispose of it myself.
STAFF: Fine. Have the trees been pruned recently at all?
MR HARRIS: The apple tree was trimmed last year, but the oak trees have not been touched for at least five years.
STAFF: Okay. That usually means a bit more work on the oaks. We charge according to the time and the amount of cutting, but as a rough guide, the average price is around 150 pounds per tree.
MR HARRIS: That sounds perfectly reasonable.
STAFF: Excellent. I will book an estimate visit for Wednesday morning. Your booking reference is GL7426. Could you write that down?
MR HARRIS: GL7426, got it. Thanks very much for your help today.
STAFF: You are very welcome. We will see you next Wednesday.
