Part 1: You will hear a caller speaking to a ticket desk assistant about different theatre ticket services.
JASON: Westbridge Theatre ticket desk, Jason speaking. How can I help? DIANA: Hi Jason. Um, I’ve just moved to the city, and I’m trying to work out the best way to buy theatre tickets. I keep seeing different ticket services online, and I don’t want to pay extra charges without realising. JASON: That’s fair. Are you booking for something today, or just comparing services for future visits? DIANA: Just comparing, really. I’ll probably go once or twice a month, and sometimes I’ll be buying for friends as well. JASON: No problem. If you tell me what you care about, price, flexibility, or speed, I can point you in the right direction. DIANA: Mainly hidden fees and whether it’s easy to change plans. JASON: Right, most people here choose between three services. First, there’s BlueSeat. People like it because the seating map is easy to use and it often shows good availability, even when a show is nearly full. They add a service fee of three pounds seventy-five per order. DIANA: Per ticket? JASON: No, per order, so it’s the same whether you buy one seat or a small group. If you choose to collect printed tickets, they’ll only keep them for thirty-six hours. After that, the tickets go back on sale. DIANA: And if I choose e-tickets instead? JASON: Those are emailed straight away, and our ushers scan them at the door. Second is LanternBox. It can look cheaper at first, but the final cost depends on how you pay. With a debit card, there’s no extra fee, but credit cards add a percentage. DIANA: Okay. JASON: They’re also fairly flexible. You can move your booking to a different performance, or swap seats, but only up to four days before the show. After that, they won’t make changes. DIANA: So I’d need to decide fairly early. JASON: Third is RowCircle. It’s aimed mainly at younger customers and students. To register, they ask for proof of age, usually a passport number or a national ID. DIANA: Right. JASON: A small extra is that, on weekday shows, they sometimes include a complimentary cloakroom token, which is handy if you’ve got a coat or a bag, though that doesn’t apply at weekends. DIANA: Are their tickets always electronic? JASON: Mostly, yes, and they can be slower to arrive on busy afternoons. DIANA: If I just want the fastest e-ticket, which is best? JASON: BlueSeat is usually quickest. RowCircle can slow down when it’s busy. Whichever you choose, keep the confirmation email somewhere safe so you don’t lose the entry code. DIANA: That’s really helpful, thanks. JASON: No problem at all.
