Part 1: You will hear a conversation between a customer and a representative at a hydroponics company.
MAN: Good morning, Green Leaf Hydroponics. How can I help you?
WOMAN: Hi there. I need someone to do some maintenance on my indoor growing setup. It is not running right.
MAN: I can arrange that for you. Let me open a service ticket. Can I get your full name?
WOMAN: Yes. My first name is Chloe, and my surname is Paterson.
MAN: Let me spell that. Is that P-A-T-T-E-R-S-O-N?
WOMAN: Actually, there is only one T in the middle. It is P-A-T-E-R-S-O-N.
MAN: Got it. And what is your home address, Chloe?
WOMAN: I recently moved, but currently I live at 83 Torrance Avenue.
MAN: 83 Torrance… T-O-R-R-A-N-C-E Avenue. Excellent. Now, what specific type of system do you have installed?
WOMAN: I bought the Zenith model last year. It has been wonderful until now.
MAN: Ah, the Zenith. That is a reliable unit. What exactly seems to be the main problem with it?
WOMAN: Well, the plants look a bit droopy lately. Also, I need to replace the growing sponges. They look quite worn out.
MAN: We will bring some fresh ones. When is the best time for our technician to visit your property?
WOMAN: Weekends are too busy. Monday mornings would be absolutely perfect, if that works.
MAN: Let me check the roster. Yes, Monday morning it is. Now, did you notice any unusual sounds?
WOMAN: Oh, yes! I forgot to mention that. The main pump has been vibrating loudly since yesterday evening.
MAN: That usually means a blockage. The technician will clean that out. He will also flush all the pipes to make sure the circulation flows properly.
WOMAN: That makes sense. Will he also test the liquid solution during the visit?
MAN: Yes. It is our standard procedure to check the acid levels. If it is unbalanced, the roots cannot absorb food.
WOMAN: Good to know. Do you need me to provide anything else?
MAN: Not really. Unless you need us to bring anything?
WOMAN: Actually, yes. My overhead lamps have been flickering. Could you ask him to bring extra bulbs? I want to have some spares.
MAN: Not a problem. I will add those to your service order. Finally, how would you prefer to settle the bill?
WOMAN: I do not keep cash. Can I write a cheque when the job is completely finished?
MAN: That is perfectly acceptable. The technician will hand you a receipt right after the inspection.
WOMAN: Great. Thank you for your assistance.
