Part 1: You will hear a telephone conversation between a glamping site agent and a customer who wants to book a tent.
AGENT: Hello, Horizon Glamping, Sarah speaking. How can I help you today?
CUSTOMER: Hi there. I’m looking to rent a glamping tent for an upcoming weekend getaway. A friend stayed with you last year and highly recommended it.
AGENT: Great! We have a few different sites available. Are you looking for a beachfront spot by the lake, or something tucked away in the forest?
CUSTOMER: My wife isn’t a fan of sand, so we’d prefer the forest. We want some shade and peace.
AGENT: Perfect. Now, we offer a few tent styles. We’ve got the classic canvas bell tent, the wooden safari lodge, and the clear-roofed dome.
CUSTOMER: The lodge sounds spacious, but she really wants to fall asleep looking at the stars, so we’ll go with the dome.
AGENT: Excellent choice. And when exactly were you hoping to arrive?
CUSTOMER: Initially we thought the 15th of next month. Wait, let me check my calendar. No, that’s a Friday and I work late. Let’s make it the 17th instead.
AGENT: I’ve marked that down for you. The forest sites are lovely that time of year, with plenty of privacy. Now, moving on to the guest details. Are you bringing any pets with you? We are completely pet-friendly here.
CUSTOMER: Yes, we are planning to bring our dog. He’s an older golden retriever and very well-behaved, so he won’t be any trouble.
AGENT: That’s perfectly fine. We actually have some fantastic walking trails nearby that he will absolutely love. Now, could I take your surname to get this booking file started, please?
CUSTOMER: Sure, it’s Bradby. That’s spelt B-R-A-D-B-Y.
AGENT: Thank you. Now, all our tents come with luxury bedding, but you can rent extra items. Do you need a portable camping stove or a heater?
CUSTOMER: Since the nights might get quite chilly, let’s definitely add a heater to the reservation.
AGENT: Wise decision. We also offer guided activities on-site. We run hiking tours, archery lessons, and kayaking.
CUSTOMER: Archery is tempting, but I think kayaking sounds absolutely fantastic. We’ve never tried it before.
AGENT: I’ll book you in for a beginner’s session. Regarding food, self-catering is popular, but we can provide certain meals.
CUSTOMER: We’ll barbecue our own dinners, but having breakfast provided would be really helpful to start the day.
AGENT: Noted. I’ll add the morning hamper. The total comes to exactly 250 dollars. How would you like to pay? We accept cash or credit card.
CUSTOMER: I’d rather get it out of the way now, so I’ll just pay by credit. It’s much easier.
AGENT: Let me just process that in the system right now. Okay, all done. Your final booking reference is G82. You’ll need to show that when you check in.
CUSTOMER: Wonderful. Thanks for your help!
