Part 1: You will hear a man calling a board game cafe to book a table for his friends.
EMPLOYEE: Hello, Goblin Board Game Cafe. How can I help you today?
CUSTOMER: Hi there! I’d like to book a table for this coming weekend, please.
EMPLOYEE: Certainly. Can I get your first name to start the booking?
CUSTOMER: Sure, it’s Malik.
EMPLOYEE: And what is your surname, Malik?
CUSTOMER: It’s Varma. Let me spell that for you. It is V-A-R-M-A.
EMPLOYEE: V-A-R-M-A. Got it. Let me pull up our calendar. Which day would you like to come in?
CUSTOMER: We are planning for Saturday, the 14th of October.
EMPLOYEE: Let me check. Yes, we have space. How many people?
CUSTOMER: Well, originally it was going to be six of us, but my cousin is joining, so please put us down for 7.
EMPLOYEE: Seven people. No problem. Do you have a seating preference? We have booths in the back, or tables near the window.
CUSTOMER: Hmm, the back of the cafe might be too dark. Let’s go with the one near the window, so we have natural light.
EMPLOYEE: Perfect. Now, you can request a specific game in advance. Did you have any genres in mind?
CUSTOMER: We usually play strategy, but this time everyone wants to try a mystery game.
EMPLOYEE: I will reserve ‘Shadows of London’ for you. It’s very popular.
CUSTOMER: Sounds absolutely great.
EMPLOYEE: Also, you get a discount if you pre-order food. Do you want anything to eat?
CUSTOMER: Sure, why not. We will be hungry. Can we pre-order a large pizza to share?
EMPLOYEE: Excellent choice. I just need a contact phone number for the booking.
CUSTOMER: Sure, my mobile number is 099, then 542311.
EMPLOYEE: Let me read that back. 099 542 311. Great. And an email address?
CUSTOMER: Of course. It’s malik, at silver dot com. That’s S-I-L-V-E-R.
EMPLOYEE: Thanks. Since your group is over five people, we require a deposit to secure the table.
CUSTOMER: Oh, I didn’t know that, but that’s fine. How much is it?
EMPLOYEE: It is normally twenty dollars, but since you pre-ordered food with us, it is just $15.
CUSTOMER: Okay, I can pay that online later today.
EMPLOYEE: Perfect. I will email a payment link. Finally, will you be driving here?
CUSTOMER: Yes, a couple of us are driving. Where is the best place to park?
EMPLOYEE: Don’t use the street parking, it’s too expensive. We share the south car park with the cinema next door. Use that one, it’s free.
CUSTOMER: The south one. Excellent. Thanks for your help!
EMPLOYEE: You’re welcome, Malik. We will see you on Saturday!
