STAFF: Good morning, GreenGrow Garden Supplies. How can I help you?
CUSTOMER: Hi, I’d like to arrange a mulch delivery for my garden, please.
STAFF: Certainly. I’ll just take a few details. Can I start with your name?
CUSTOMER: Yes, it’s Helen Carter.
STAFF: Could you spell the surname?
CUSTOMER: C-A-R-T-E-R.
STAFF: Thank you. And a contact phone number?
CUSTOMER: It’s 0412 763 890.
STAFF: Great. Now, what type of mulch are you interested in? We have pine bark, eucalyptus, and sugar cane mulch.
CUSTOMER: I think pine bark would be best. I want something that lasts a long time.
STAFF: That’s a good choice. Pine bark is excellent for retaining soil moisture and it breaks down quite slowly compared to sugar cane mulch. Have you prepared the ground yet?
CUSTOMER: Not entirely. I plan to spend tomorrow pulling out the weeds. Do I need to put anything down before the mulch goes on?
STAFF: It is highly recommended. You can lay down some weed matting, or if you want an organic option, several layers of wet newspaper work really well to stop the weeds coming back through.
CUSTOMER: Oh, that is a great tip. I will use newspaper.
STAFF: Excellent. Now, how much mulch do you need?
CUSTOMER: I’m not exactly sure. The garden bed is about 8 metres long and 2 metres wide.
STAFF: For that size, I’d recommend around 3 cubic metres to get a good thickness. Usually, we say about 10 centimetres deep is ideal for pine bark.
CUSTOMER: Yes, that sounds fine.
STAFF: And where would you like the mulch delivered?
CUSTOMER: To 24 Rosewood Avenue, in Brighton.
STAFF: Could you spell Rosewood for me?
CUSTOMER: Yes, it’s R-O-S-E-W-O-O-D.
STAFF: Thank you. Is that a house or an apartment building?
CUSTOMER: It’s a house. There’s a driveway on the left side.
STAFF: Perfect. Our driver will need clear access to tip the mulch. Is there anything blocking the driveway?
CUSTOMER: No, I’ll make sure it’s empty that day.
STAFF: Good. When would you like the delivery? We have availability this Thursday or Saturday morning.
CUSTOMER: Saturday morning would be better.
STAFF: That would be the 18th of May. Delivery is usually between 8 and 11 am.
CUSTOMER: That’s fine. I’ll be home.
STAFF: Excellent. The total cost for 3 cubic metres of pine bark mulch is $210, including delivery.
CUSTOMER: Okay. Can I pay by card?
STAFF: Yes, you can pay the driver on delivery, or I can take payment now over the phone.
CUSTOMER: I’ll pay on delivery, thanks.
