Activities Outside the Station
If you don’t want to stay in the station, you can also have a look around the station. But make sure to get back in time for the train, I’m sure you don’t want to miss it.
- Bike Ride: Walk down Fitchton Road, pass the taxi stop, and you can find a bike rack on the right. (This is outside, near the main entrance).
- Fitchton College: Within walking distance from the station; the view is quite good there.
- Town Library: Just down the road if you want to read.
- Art Exhibition: There’s also an art exhibition at the moment, you can go and check it out.
- Store: Across the street; opens throughout the day, and you can find all kinds of stuff there. (Avoid buying gifts here, as they may be difficult to carry on a bike).
- Local Food: Something I recommend. You can buy some at the foodies shop, which is right next to the station.
- Postcards: You can send some postcards with local pictures. You can buy them in the community college which is near the museum.
- Statue: In the back of the train station you can see a statue of Richard Travolt, a local government minister.
Note: The speaker mentions that while the department store is a good place to find things to wear, there isn’t enough time for a visit. The old cinema behind the museum is closing and is being converted into an accommodation block.
Staff Member: Again, I’d like to remind you that the train will leave at 11:45. Please get back in time and I hope you enjoy your time at Fitchton.
